How to paint ears and I started off by painting in the outside shape of the ear followed by the inside shape with burnt umber and titanium white, these shapes fit neatly into oval shapes.

I added colour for the darker tones with cadmium red, yellow ochre and a touch of ultramarine blue and white and painting in these darker areas. It is best to half close your eyes to see these darker areas of colour, the pinkish tone of the paper serves as a middle tone here.
Darker accents are painted in like the outer edge and the inner folds of the ear with a dark burnt umber and ultramarine colour.
The lights are added with the same mixture only lighter by adding more titanium white.
The finished ear and it is the lights and darks that make an ear look like an ear, once you have got these in and painted them in fairly accurately you will have a good solid looking painting.
The finished ear in its simplest form, always paint in the largest shapes first and the smaller shapes will take care of themselves.
